Her literary work and book reviews have appeared in a variety of magazines, including Prairie Schooner, Calyx, Shenandoah, Arts & Letters, and North American Review. "An Archeology of Secrets" was a Notable Essay in Best American Essays 2012 and "Disordered" won the 2014 Lyric Essay Contest at the Lindenwood Review. She is a professor in the English Department at South Dakota State University and lives in Brookings, South Dakota, with her husband, architecture professor Brian T. Rex, and her two sons, Holden and Xavier.
