CloseIt Takes Cow Chips to Make Dinner by L. Dale Redlin
Many stories could be told or written by those of us who grew up in South Dakota during the '30s and '40s. Many of them, no doubt, would be rather entertaining and edifying. In fact, I know they would be, because I have heard many. My attempt, however, in this little volume, is to relay episodes from the everyday life of a child growing up in those years to illustrate without exaggeration how life really was in those days.

About the author: L. Dale Redlin (October 19, 1932 – July 6, 2025) was a retired pastor, author, and longtime leader in the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS). Born in Crocker, South Dakota, to Levi E. and Mable L. (Stein) Redlin, he was baptized in 1934 and confirmed in 1947. Growing up on a farm, he learned hard work and even herded sheep, experiences that shaped his later pastoral calling.
