Caring for Textiles Caring for Textiles

October 18 – Caring for Textiles Class – 6:00pm – 7:00pm

Quilts, wedding dresses, linens, etc. – learn how to preserve your treasured textiles with Gwen McCausland, Director of the South Dakota Agricultural Heritage Museum.
Attendees will learn what supplies to purchase and how to properly store the textiles to preserve them like a museum curator.
Attendees are welcome to bring one example from home.
This class is free and open to the public. Seating is limited.

October 28 – Forces of Nature: Weather Science Explored – 1:30pm – 2:30pm

The Science Concepts Illustration Squad (SCI Squad) of SDSU will perform science demonstrations on the chemistry and physics of extreme weather.
SCI Squad Scientists Matt and Larry will showcase topics such as tornadoes, tidal waves, volcanoes, lava, and more.
This event is free and open to the public.

South Dakota Watersheds - Family Friendly Activity South Dakota Watersheds - Family Friendly Activity

November 3 – South Dakota Watersheds –A Family Friendly Activity - 2:00-3:00pm

Ideal for 2nd grade and up, this interactive program provided by the South Dakota Geographic Alliance explores the fascinating science behind South Dakota watersheds using a giant floor map in the shape of the state.
This event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited.
Deadline for on-line registration is November 1.
When registering please list name of the child in the comment box on the order page. Parents/guardians do not need to register.

Cooking Class Cooking Class

November 8 – Cooking Class Inspired by Plant Explorer N.E. Hansen – 6:30 – 8:00pm.

Carol Sprenger will lead a cooking class just in time for the holiday season that features delicious recipes featuring ingredients inspired by plant explorer N.E. Hansen.
This class is free and open to the public. Seating is limited.

Beginners Knitting Class Beginners Knitting Class

October 30th and November 13th 6:00-8:00 p.m.
For ages 16 and older. No experience necessary.
This 2-part series will teach the basics of knitting and purl stitching.
Registration fee is for BOTH classes is $20.00. All supplies (book, yarn and needles) included.
Class size is limited.
Deadline to register on-line is Sunday, October 28.
